If you are arriving by car, a one mile crossing of the St. Mary's River on the Drummond   Island ferry is a great way to start your vacation. There are often large freighters that can be seen while making the 10 minute trip and always a beautiful view of the water and surrounding small islands.

The ferry to operates 365 days, with crossings at least hourly from early morning (5:00-6:00am) to late evening (1:00-2:00 am).   Although there is a ferry schedule, which is posted on both docks, in  times of heavy traffic, the ferry continues to run back and forth. Two ferries are sometimes used during this time. The car ferry can accommodate large loads, up to and  including modular homes. The round trip fare is paid on the DeTour side and is collected on the ferry during the trip across the St. Mary's River.

The winter ferry schedule is in effect January 1 through March 31. During this time, the ferry does not run from late night until early morning. However, there are numerous runs throughout the day and special runs can be arranged if necessary.
